WTB stars and dustbowl and glass plz

I'm taking some time off work soon, and I'm damn stoked about. I'm basically on leave from the end of this week until early-mid January. <blink>HELL YEAH!</blink>

To celebrate, this weekend I'm gonna drive out to, wait for it...

PARKES!

ARE YOU EXCITED YET? Thought so. Since I've got nothing better to do, I'm going out there to get photos of star trails near their bigass radiotelescope.

My dad's tagging along, so I get to subject him to my appalling taste in J-pop and techno. Meanwhile we'll pass through Lithgow, Bathurst and Orange, but all I've heard so far is "it's dusty out there". PLEASE tell me there's stuff to do/see out there. :)


If anyone wants to monopolise my time while on holidays, I'm all ears. Otherwise I'll probably stay at home all day playing games.


Any photographers: How badly do I want this lens? My credit card has more than enough limit on it right now...
